The poet’s struggle – a poem

He has to stay down to earth,
while the words whisk him away,
to realms unknown.
He derives images and feelings from it,
distills them till they are ink
filling his pages.
This could go about a purple rabbit,
eating a green carrot.
This could be unexpected,
bringing a tear in the eye
or a smile on the face.
It may connect,
protect.
But it always has an impact.
