Behind the fence – a poem

Dreaming behind a fence,
about a new life to commence.
Cast away,
in dismay
lost to the world,
the undesirable we hold
ward off the stranger,
he is a potential danger.
That’s what all those civilized people say,
I hope to see the day,
that camp is closed.
Our mind needs to be hosed.
To society,
to a certain degree
we protect our boundary,
only when it’s necessary
to get cheap labour we will budge
give a gentle nudge
to the public opinion,
and claim dominion of the refugees.
We are referees,
controlling the game
with no shame.
